The Clips and Trips blog was put together in preparation for our leaving the U.S. on an indefinite world travel adventure which started around August of 2009 and returned us home in December of 2012. If you want to see where it all began, read our mission statement from before we left.

Portland

We left San Francisco and flew to Portland for David and Melissa's wedding.

After watching Anthony Bourdain's show on Portland, we had to check out Voodoo Donuts. Pam got their trademark maple bar with bacon. It was actually pretty good. The next day we walked a ridiculous distance exploring the city in near 100 degree weather. I'm pretty sure we burned it off.

We were riding the bus toward the city center and saw what looked like a whole row of taco trucks, so we got right off to take a look. There were all different kinds of food for sale -- Thai, Vietnamese, Mediterranean, Mexican...

We met up with Tami and were treated to delicious oysters!

  1. It was great to see you up here in Pdx, Eric, and it was our pleasure to meet you, Pam! Keep us all in the loop as you traipse through Asia, and all the best as you do so...

  2. For our San Francisco friends interested in a bacon maple - it seems as if this perfect combination of sweet and salty can be found at Dynamo Donuts in the Mission. It really is delicious.
